Question by Phish: How do you tell a new girlfriend/boyfriend you have genital warts without them halting the relationship?
I’ve just started a relationship with someone very special and we are both head over heels with each other. It’s been a few weeks now and we’re starting to become more physical and that day is rapidly approaching. I contracted genital warts from my last girlfriend which was over a year ago and now I’m ready for this new relationship but I’m scared to death she will leave when I tell her. How do I tell her without losing her?

well you just have to come out and say it

if they really love you then it won’t be as big of a problem as you would think

good luck

You should sit her down and tell her your story. Also, I think providing her with some information about how you can take measures to prevent her from getting them will ease her worries. If she loves you she will stay with you and you can both practice safe sex and work together to keep her genital warts free. Good luck!

you must tell her… if her love is real and lasting, there won’t be an issue. If you wear a condom, you won’t pass them on to her, and if she has had the Guardasil shot she is protected anyway. Consider it a test of her professed love.

Sorry pal, but unless she already has genital warts, she must leave your relationship. Why would she want to contract genital warts? Why would you want to transmit them to her? You have a difficult condition that is going to be a long-term problem in forming relationships.

May I suggest that you refrain from sexual contact with your partner until such time as you have been treated and given the 100 % all clear.

Genital warts are treatable.

I would also suggest that you are honest and tell the person that you have the condition. They have a right to know.

If this person loves you – they will stick around and help you through this.

You also need to slow down and practise safe sex in the future – for your sake and your future partner (s)
